Britain's top Olympic Skier Bares All to Raise Training Money - and a Few Eyebrows: Downhill Racy

London, UK (PRWEB) August 20, 2008 -- TV 'Superstars' hero Alain Baxter was back in front of the cameras again this week - but this time Britain's top skier was taking all his clothes off.

Baxter (34) has just completed a 'nude shoot' for two of Europe's leading portrait photographers as part of his renewed bid for slalom glory at the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver.

"I need to raise money for sponsorship so I can continue training flat-out for the World Championship in France next year and then compete in my third Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 " he reveals.

"My wife Sheila suggested I do my own 'Full Monty' and see if I can raise some money and perhaps a few eyebrows with a calendar shoot. Trevor and Faye Yerbury are top award-winning portrait photographers with a lot of experience of classic nude photography and they agreed to do the shoot with me".

Baxter admits he has some 'seriously unfinished Olympics business' to deal with.

Life went downhill very quickly after he failed a drugs test in the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.

He won the bronze medal in the slalom event but was disqualified after using an American version of a Vicks inhaler containing a banned substance.

Baxter, who suffers from sinus problems, was later cleared but the International Olympics Committee (IOC) refused to return his medal.

He recalls: "I went from a massive high to an all-time low within a few days. I had no idea that the American version of the Vicks inhaler included trace amounts of methamphetamine - a banned substance. It took eight months to clear my name but I still didn't get my medal back. Now I am working to put that right. I want to be on that podium when the medals are given out."

Said Sheila "I told Alain he needed more exposure - and he's taken it quite literally. He has a great body. I think he looks as good, if not better than David Beckham."

Baxter also made headlines when he dyed his hair with the Saltire cross of St Andrew after winning the medal six years ago. The British Olympic Association ordered him to remove it because they wanted to promote 'Britishness' but when he tried to delete the white cross with blue dye it still showed through on the Salt Lake City podium.

He follows in the footsteps of other famous Olympians who have bared all for the camera, including cyclist Rebecca Romero, hurdlers Colin Jackson and Jacqui Agyepong and heptathlon athlete Denise Lewis. And this month Great Britain's Olympic coxless four were photographed for Cosmopolitan with just their boat protecting their modesty, as part of an 'Everyman' cancer awareness campaign.
